1 unbaked pie crust
2 cups brown sugar
6 tablespoons flour
A pinch of salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1.5 cups evaporated milk
Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting
Preparation
Preheat Oven: Begin by heating your oven to 400°F (204°C).
Prepare the Filling: In a saucepan, whisk together the brown sugar and flour. Gradually stir in the evaporated milk, butter, salt, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil. Pour this hot filling into the unbaked pie crust.
Bake the Pie: Place the pie in the oven and bake at 400°F for 5 minutes. Then, reduce the temperature to 350°F (177°C) and continue baking for about 25 more minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden.
Serve: Allow the pie to cool slightly before slicing. For an extra touch of elegance, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
