Obtaining the Kernel: When preparing a mango for consumption, the focus is usually on the delicious flesh, and the seed is often overlooked. However, when aiming to grow a mango plant, preserving the seed is crucial. If the fruit is ripe, a careful incision along the perimeter allows for the release of the seed. In cases of firmer pulp, slicing is necessary, ensuring the stone remains untouched. Once the coveted seed is in hand, delicately extract the inner pulp, taking care to keep it intact.
Treating the Seed for Optimal Growth: Gently wrap the mango seed in blotting paper, placing it inside the container. Dampen the entire paper towel with water, ensuring it is well-soaked but not saturated. Envelop the container with transparent film, creating a makeshift greenhouse that maintains optimal temperature and humidity conditions for the seed. Position the container in a well-lit area, away from direct sunlight. After approximately ten days, witness the emergence of the first shoots, marking the beginning of your beautiful mango plant’s growth journey.
